2012 Great Lakes Lighthouse Preservation Conference & Michigan Ports Collaborative Meeting
Lights & Ports, Building our
Future Dear Michigan Lighthouse Alliance friend, Here it is again, the always popular MLA biennial Conference and Workshops in beautiful Traverse City at the Hagerty Center! Great food, great people, and a great chance to get together again to talk about our favorite subject, lighthouses!
The theme this year is “Lights and Ports, Building Our Future” For the first time we’ll bring together the members of the Michigan Port Collaborative and Michigan’s lighthouses to the same conference to talk about how the symbols of harbors and also those lighthouses that connect them can work with Michigan’s ports as a way to stimulate local economies and help return attention to Michigan’s “front door”.
For two days we will talk about lighthouses, ports and how they can work together to help each other and become engines of economic and tourism development by using new combined promotional strategies!
Check out this exciting program in the brochure and register now! Space is limited and interest is high!
Your attendance will ensure that vital educational opportunities about our historic resources are communicated throughout your organization, that lighthouses will be enjoyed and appreciated by future generations, and that they will continue to inspire and educate visitors from around the world.
The conference will feature: o Conference sessions & Panel Presentations: addressing aspects of lighthouse preservation, light and port partnership development to aid tourism and economic development, and “what next” opportunities for long-time lighthouse groups; o Speakers: representing a wide range of individuals, corporations, private businesses, federal and state agencies, local governments, and nonprofit organizations; o How-to educational sessions: presenting step-by-step practical advice; o Formal & informal learning opportunities: enhancing your management and technical know-how; o Ask-the-expert: finding solutions to your light’s/port’s unique challenges; and o Networking opportunities: building relationships with your port and lighthouse partners and industry professionals, all of which are critical to successful organizations and goal achievement.
Please join us!
Sincerely, |
